Some Ukrainian churches
pst
These are some of the churches at St. Sofia's. The original construction took place between 1037 and 1044 A.D. during the reign of Yaroslav 'the Wise'.
pst
The Kiev Opera House where Tanya, Carol and I saw a wonderful Ukrainian opera.
We had really good seats for less than $4.
The inside of the building was very ornate.
The story involved Cossacks and there was lots of great dancing as well as singing.
pst
A statue of The Man himself: Taras Shevchenko (1814 - 1861);
the son of a serf who was eventually canonised as Ukraine's national bard.
We ate at a nearby restaurant named "Taras", which in cyrillic looks like "Tapac"
because the "P" really sounds like "R" and the "C" really sounds like "S".
A "Pectopah" is really a "Restaurant".
Sound confusing? It is.

Another part of St. Sofia's

Another church that we walked by.

And another one.

This is me in front of St. Sofia's.
