New Year's Day
Locations: Wiang Chai and Chiang Rai, Thailand

We spent the day at Wan's daughter and son-in-law's place out in the village of Wiang Chai in Chiang Rai Province, and ended the evening taking in the Chiang Rai Flower Festival

That's me on the right....trying to stay warm with one of Wan's relatives

The kid on the right is Wan's grandson, Papong

That cook top sat on a ceramic bucket full of charcoal and you could boil stuff on the outside of the ring and grill stuff in the center. We had grilled pork and shrimp, squid and fish.

That's me on the right, flanked by a couple of Wan's relatives

As you can see you grill meat on the center, and boil veggies and seafood in a broth around the outside

This is Wan's son-in-law, oldest daughter and grandson. They farm rice and vegetables for a living.

The rest of the photos are ones I took at the Chiang Rai Flower Festival, which was quite impressive
