Dear Donald,
Thank you for expressing an interest in the SIT TESOL Certificate Course held
here at the AUA Language Center. The websites listed below should answer
most of the questions you probably have about the course:
Nevertheless, I can tell you that although the exact dates for future
SIT Courses in Chiang Mai have not been finalized, they will be run over
the following periods in 2010: March and August. Bangkok will also host
courses in November (09), Jan-Feb, June-July, Nov.
Here is some more general information about the course:
The SIT TESOL Course is an intensive 130-hour, 4-week course that
generally runs from about 8:00 am to 4:30 pm Monday to Friday.
The total cost of the course is now 50,000 baht or approximately
US$1,450, depending on the exchange rate.
It is a very practical course, with sessions covering everything
from the teaching of speaking, listening, reading, writing, and grammar,
to vocabulary, pronunciation, and culture. As well as workshop sessions,
much time is spent lesson planning, teaching real classes and participating
in feedback sessions following these teaching experiences. In this way, the
course is designed to be as practical and hands-on as possible.
Overall, the course aims to provide you with the skills and techniques
to ensure that you enter the classroom with confidence. The course also
instills principles of reflective practice. By this we mean that you will
learn how to assess your own progress as a teacher and make principled changes
and adjustments based on this.
We also guarantee the best trainee:trainer ratio of any course in
Asia. With approximately 12 participants and at least three trainers,
we also make sure that you receive plenty of personal support.
Donald, if you have any more questions about the course,
please don't hesitate to contact me either by email, phone, or in person.
Regards,
Steven Tait

they will soon have a bar stool reserved for The Donger.

out, just let me know, dude.
...........I took the CIE program
in Vancouver (http://www.cie.ca.com) about 5 years ago.
The program was one week in length and I was pleased with the information
I received. They have many testimonials from former students who had found
interesting jobs. I did this as a back-up plan in case I was unable to work
in dentistry outside the USA.
I believe the Thai government has made some changes regarding language
teachers in country. I don't recall what I read, but it may be that
they were requiring official training from organizations such as this one.
..........
Any opinion on the quality of this
TESOL certificate?
which you can get at the AUA in Chiang Mai (http://www.auathailand.org/sit/)
